Vision Center South (formerly Troy Eye Care) is proud to announce the addition of Dr. Erika Poikey, O.D., to its Troy, Alabama team. Dr. Poikey joins Dr. Elizabeth Hitchcock to expand our provider team and offer quality vision care services to the community. With a wealth of clinical experience and a deep commitment to personalized, high-quality eye care, Dr. Poikey is excited to begin her practice in Troy.

Dr. Poikey earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from Ferris State University in 2012 before attending the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, where she excelled academically and professionally. During her studies, she contributed to advancements in low-vision research. She gained invaluable hands-on clinical training through internships at renowned institutions, including the Lions Club Vision Clinic, the University of Kentucky Ophthalmology Department, and the Tuscaloosa Veterans Affairs Clinic.

Specializing in ocular disease, vision therapy, and low-vision care, Dr. Poikey brings a broad skill set to Vision Center South. Her expertise enables her to address a wide range of patients’ needs, from managing complex eye conditions to enhancing the quality of life through tailored vision solutions.

Before joining Vision Center South, Dr. Poikey built a distinguished career in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Montgomery, Alabama, working in both surgical and private optometry settings. With over six years of experience, she has earned a reputation for her compassionate approach and dedication to her patients.
