On Feb. 5, 12th Judicial Circuit District Attorney James Tarbox announced that Samuel Andrew McCall of Troy has been arrested on child pornography charges.
According to Tarbox, the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) and Pike County Sheriff’s Office executed an arrest and search warrant for McCall on Jan. 29. McCall was placed in the Pike County Jail on one count of Possession of Child Pornography with Intent to Disseminate, which is a Class B Felony under Alabama state law.
This arrest comes as a result of an investigation initiated through the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Tarbox said that additional charges are expected based upon materials located on devices seized during the search warrant.
McCall was a volunteer at a local church youth group at the time of his arrest. Tarbox said that based upon the information currently known, it is not believed that there are any local victims of McCall.
“However, the District Attorney’s Office recommends anyone who believes they or their children may have been victimized by McCall to contact their local law enforcement agency,” Tarbox said. “The District Attorney’s Office appreciates the work of the State Bureau of Investigation and the Pike County Sheriff’s Office for their work in this matter.”
According to Tarbox, McCall was released on a $25,000 bond.
