The No. 25-ranked Troy Trojans Baseball team were picked to finish second in the Sun Belt Conference by the league’s coaches on Wednesday.
Despite being the only team from the Sun Belt to land on D1Baseball and USA Today’s Preseason Top 25 Coaches Poll, Troy was picked to finish second in the Sun Belt behind Southern Miss. Troy earned four first place votes compared to five for Southern Miss.
The Trojans are coming off a 37-22 season and third-place finish in the Sun Belt in 2024 and features a stacked roster with veteran returners and one of the top transfer portal and freshmen classes in the conference.
That roster features one of the top MLB prospects in college baseball in catcher Brooks Bryan. Despite that, Brooks – nor any other Trojan – made the Sun Belt Coaches Preseason All-Conference team.
On Tuesday, though, Perfect Game released its Preseason All-Sun Belt Team and both Bryan and transfer first baseman Blake Cavill named to the All-Conference team. Bryan was ranked as the No. 6 catcher in the country by D1Baseball and Cavill is ranked and was ranked as the 18 first baseman in the country.
