On Thursday, the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) released the offensive and defensive scoring leaders in the state through the first three weeks of the season and both Goshen and Pike Liberal Arts are among the leaders.
Goshen ranks 30th in the state – regardless of classification – and seventh in Class 2A in offense, averaging 42 points per game. Pike Lib’s offense also ranks ninth in Class 2A with 38 points per game.
Pike’s defense, though, is among the top teams in the entire state, regardless of classification. While the Pike defense’s two points per game given up ranks second in Class 2A, it’s also tied for second among all classifications. Pike’s defense has given up just six total points this season, also tied for second fewest in the state in both 2A and regardless of classification. Goshen’s 14 points per game given up also ranks 15th in 2A.
Pike plays Luverne this week, while Goshen will host Calhoun.
