Charles Henderson hosts region matchup with Carroll

This Friday, Sept. 13, the Charles Henderson Trojans (1-1, 1-0) will host Ozark’s Carroll Eagles (0-3) in a Class 5A, Region 2 showdown.

The Trojans are coming off an exciting 18-14 win over Greenville last week, the first win of the season for CHHS. Nemo Williams tallied 93 yards on the ground and Kam Johnson caught two touchdown passes as Charles Henderson found its first win of the season.

Defensively, Williams leads CHHS this season thus far with 24 tackles, six tackles-for-loss and a sack. Deshawn Burden has tallied 23 tackles and two tackles-for-loss.

Meanwhile, the Eagles from Ozark have lost three straight to open the season against Russell County, Rehobeth and Elmore County. Carroll has been outscored 96-15 in those three games, giving up 32 points per game.

Charles Henderson holds a 46-23-2 edge over Carroll all-time but fell 34-24 last year to the Eagles. Charles Henderson currently sits tied for first place in Region 2 with Catholic Montgomery and Andalusia, while Carroll is the only team that hasn’t yet played a region contest.

Charles Henderson hosts Carroll this Friday at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Troy at 7 p.m.
