The Troy All-Stars, representing Alabama, saw their run in the Dixie Belles Softball World Series come to a close on Wednesday with a 7-3 loss to Virginia.
After beating Florida – after a number of weather delays – on Tuesday, the matchup between Alabama and Virginia was also delayed by weather. It was originally scheduled to take place Tuesday afternoon but happened Wednesday morning instead.
Pike County’s Hailey Griffin led Troy at the plate, going 2-for-2 with an RBI, while Brooke Horn went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI. Charles Henderson’s Janazia Cantlow, Pike Lib’s Julianne Meyer and Ariton’s Beth Dixon scored one run each.
Dixon also pitched all seven innings and mowed down nine batters, while giving up five hits and three earned runs. Troy had five defensive errors as a team.
The Troy All-Stars finished their summer season with an Alabama State Championship and a 2-2 record in the World Series. Troy finished fourth overall at the World Series.
