Incumbent Brundidge Mayor Isabell Boyd retained her role on the Brundidge Council in the city’s municipal run-off election Tuesday. Boyd received a total of  585  votes to former Brundidge mayor Jimmy Ramage’s 198 total votes. 

Boyd had 239 absentee votes, three hand counted absentee ballots, and 343 precinct votes. Ramage received 21 absentee votes and 177 precinct votes. 

Two newcomers to city politics were victorious over incumbents. 

Doug Holland unseated incumbent District 1 Council Member Betty Baxter 81 to 68 votes and Latisher Hall won over Alexandria Griffin 108 to 52 in District 2.

Holland received 34 absentee votes, one hand counted absentee vote and 46 precinct votes. Baxter had 10 absentee votes and 58 precinct votes.

Hall received 46 absentee votes to Griffin’s 17 and 62 precinct votes to Griffin’s 35. 

Boyd expressed appreciation to those who reached out and gave her another opportunity to serve the City of Brundidge as its mayor.

“One more time,” Boyd said. “I am so thankful for one more opportunity. With God’s help, and all of us working together, Brundidge will grow and prosper. I’m looking forward to the good things that lie ahead for all of us.”

Hall also expressed appreciation for the confidence shown in her abilities to represent District 2.

“I’ve worked hard and listens to what the people in District 2 have said,” Hall said. “They have told me they want positive change and that’s what I will be working toward, I’ll continue to listen to their concerns and suggestions and work with the mayor and council to make bring about the positive change we need to grow and prosper.”
