The Pike Liberal Arts Class of 2020 presented “The Beauty and the Beast” on Thursday to a large and very appreciative audience in the school cafetorium.

When the curtain came down, the cast received a standing ovation and a much deserved one, said Devin Price, drama teacher.

Price said the entire cast has been totally dedicated to presenting the best senior play possible and, they did just that.

“The cast and crew have worked very hard for the entire semester getting ready to present ‘The Beauty and the Beast,” Price said. “I am very proud of their efforts and their performance.”’

The drama class will present the play for a second time today at 9 a.m. and another appreciative audience is expected.

Price said a senior class play is a tradition at PLAS and, this year, “The Beauty and the Beast” was the hands-down choice of the Class of 2020.

“Of course, ‘The Beauty and the Beast’ is a classic so all the seniors were familiar with the story,” Price said. “And, they liked everything about the play – the story, the music, the dancing. And, they also liked the fact that it was comedic. It’s a fun play to do but everyone worked really hard and also had a good time.”

Price had high praise for those who designed and constructed the props and did the artwork for the stage scenery.

The cast members of “The Beauty and the Beast” are Megan Starling, Belle; Roughan Price, the Beast; Davis Allen, Gaston; Eli Grice, Maurice; Anna Jordan, Lumiere; Porter Lankford, Cogsworth; Aubrey Maulden, Mrs. Potts; Shelby Renfroe, Chip; Hannah Helms, Featherduster; and Sarah Elizabeth Calhoun, LeFou.
