Southeast Alabama Rural Health Associates (SARHA) is inviting the public to come meet its new pediatrician by hosting a meet and greet and a 100-bicycle giveaway.

The event, which takes place from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19, in the pediatric waiting room of the SARHA clinic on Elba Highway, is an opportunity for the public to meet Dr. Amy E. Brown, who joined SARHA in November. The giveaway is co-sponsored by Troy Bank & Trust.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Dr. Brown to our staff,” said John Little, SARHA chief executive officer. “She is an excellent physician. The addition of Dr. Brown will enhance the care provided at SARHA Pediatrics and we are happy that Dr. Brown chose Troy and Pike County as a place to work and provide care for children.”

Dr. Brown was born in Dothan and grew up in the Phenix City/Columbus area. She attended Trevecca Nazarene University and Ross University School of Medicine. She completed a pediatric residency at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Dr. Brown has special interests in pediatric injury prevention and improving the health of children by improving the health of families.

Kady Pugh, SARHA director of community relations, said SARHA is excited to invites the public to meet Dr. Brown and enjoy the fellowship of the event.

“This is a community event, and we would hope that everyone will ride over to meet our new doctor and to enter the drawing for the bikes,” Pugh said. “Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there to visit with the children until time for the bicycle giveaway.”

Pugh said after meeting Dr. Brown and Alan Wade, CPNP the visitors will be encouraged to enjoy hot cocoa and other refreshments under the tent on the front lawn. The drawing takes place immediately following the meet and greet and you must be present to win. Entries are limited to one per household, one winner per family.
