Troy Regional remains committed to the thousands of patients and their families who have trusted the hospital with their lives for 50 years.

“We salute the physicians, employees, volunteers and board members who have served Troy Regional and their community over all these years,” Herring said. “And now there are second generations serving this medical center and the community. That is amazing.”

Jimmy Lunsford, Pike County Economic Development, said there is no way to adequately evaluate what TRMC has meant to the people it serves.

When dealing with business prospects over the many years, Lunsford said his experience is that the labor force and taxes are most important but the quality of available health care is also always a top consideration.

“Healthcare, along with education, are major concerns for any business that is looking to locate in a community,” Lunsford said. “Troy Regional Medical Center is more recognized every day, not just as an outstanding medical center and, not just Pike and surrounding counties, but throughout the extended region.”

Lunsford said, in the advent of recent additions to TRMC, credit goes to Ronnie Dean, TRMC chief executive officer, and his staff.

“TRMC has added a cancer treatment center and a medical detox unit,” he said. “TRMC’s services also include a senior behavioral care center. The hospital is continuing to add services to meet the growing and changing needs of our region.”

Lunsford said TRMC adds services while maintaining its high level of patient care.

“The quality of care at TRMC is second to none when it comes to national ratings,” he said. “Inspections are conducted on a regular basis with the Joint Commission and TRMC and consistently receives high ratings. All results of tests and evaluations of our hospital are outstanding.”

Lunsford said while TRMC is extremely important in meeting the medical needs of Troy, Pike County and the surrounding areas, it is additionally important to Troy and Pike County because a quality medical facility is an important requirement when locating new business whether it’s retail, service focused or industrial.

“We cannot put too much emphasis on the importance of having a good hospital in our community,” he said. “And, we have a great hospital in TRMC.”
