Eagles split with Selma

The Goshen Eagle varsity baseball team split a double-header with Selma on Saturday.

The Eagles lost game one 8-4, before bouncing back to defeat Selma 18-7 in game two.

The double header split gives the Eagles a 3-1 record on the season.

The Eagles finished game one with three hits. Jeff Warrick, McGwire Stanley and Caleb Gamble all had one hit. Gamble’s hit was a double.

The Eagles held a late lead in game one. They held a three-run lead heading into bottom of the sixth inning before allowing three runs late.

Freshman Logan Boyce got the start in game one and pitched the first 5.1 innings. He struck out 10 batters without walking a batter.

In game two the offense came to life when they totaled 18 runs on seven hits.

Stanley started for the Eagles and picked up the win. Blake Saupe finished the game off by pitching the fifth inning.

Stanley led the Eagle offense with three hits including two singles and a triple. Stanley also had a walk. Tyler Williams finished with two singles, while Warrick finished with a double. Bryan Galloway and Logan Boyce each had a single.

The Eagles will be back in action on Monday when they host Daleville.
