The Pike County Lady Bulldogs volleyball team defeated Elba in five sets in the season opener on Tuesday evening 15-25, 26-16, 25-13, 15-25, 15-12.
“It’s a building process,” head coach Todd Reynolds. “It was a big deal because they are going to eventually start to show some toughness when things don’t go their way.”
Precious Vaznaian finished with 27 points, 18 kills and also had numerous points that were spikes.
“She had to do it all because we were missing our setter and lead blocker,” Reynolds said. “We basically had to play a hybrid formation today and go old school. Gave up some bump sets just to go for quick kills.”
Monica Bland led all servers with 29 services points.
“She was doing a great job of placing the ball where I wanted her to put it,” Reynolds said.
The Bulldogs will be back in action Thursday when they travel to play Red Level.
