Troy teams remain successful in tournament play

The Troy Nationals won a wild, crazy 21-17 game against Eufuala on Saturday night at the Troy Sportsplex.

The win improves Troy’s record in the tournament to 1-1 after they dropped their opening round game to the Troy Americans on Friday night.

The game took nearly three hours to complete, but the Troy Nationals advanced to Monday to  take on the Americans.

There were 11 total runs in the opening inning that led to Eufaula leading 6-5. Troy did most of their damage in the third. Down 10-5, Troy scored 10 runs in the inning to take a 15-10 lead. Troy sent 12 batters to the plate and all but two came around to score.

The teams traded runs in the final three innings, but Troy survived a late Eufaula surge to hold on.

Troy finished the contest with 12 hits. Matt Anderson got the start for Troy. Anderson was one of five Troy pitchers to reach the mound.

AA Rookie: Troy 14- Luverne 7

 

Troy advanced further into the winner’s bracket on Saturday night with a 14-7 win over Luverne.

Troy used a five-run third inning to help coast to a 2-0 record. Troy finished with 16 hits in the win. Colton Campbell, Ethan Gardiner, Mark Griffin, Ty’rin Toney and Wyatt Austin all had two hits a piece.

8U: Troy 11-Andalusia 4

Troy knocked off Andalusia in what was a two-game day on Saturday. Troy scored 11 runs over the course of three innings to gain the comfortable advantage. Troy finished with 16 hits, two of them were home runs by Grant Davis and Landen Flowers. Ty Hughes finished with three hits while Davis, Greyson Mathews, Landon Flowers, Pierce Gill and Parker Knick all had two.

AA Rookie: 8U: Troy 7- Luverne 6

Troy scored four runs in the final two innings against Luverne to pull out a win. A total of eight hits by Troy was good enough to seal the win. Mathews led the way for Troy with three.
