Rodney Bell Sr. was working on the construction of an expansion to Antioch Missionary Baptist Church Thursday morning when he saw the trestle being put up begin to shift.

As the wood toppled over, so did his son, Rodney Bell Jr., who was bracing the trestle while on a ladder when it fell. “It just happened so fast,” Bell Sr. said.

Medical personnel rushed to the scene where Bell Jr. was reportedly trapped in the debris.

Fortunately, Bell Sr. said, Bell Jr. was able to stand up and let his father know that he was all right.

Bell Jr. was still transported to the hospital to check for injuries from the high fall, but Bell Sr. was confident that his son was in good shape considering what could have happened.

The crew is continuing work on the expansion to the church.
