“Investigators obtained surveillance video that showed an orange truck pulling a covered trailer pull up in front of the store at 2:40 a.m.,” said Troy Police Chief Randall Barr. “The suspect drove the lawn mower into the covered trailer and left the scene. The suspect’s identity was not known at this time.

“On April 25, officers on third shift patrol observed an orange pickup pulling a covered trailer in the parking lot of this same retail store shortly after 1 a.m. Officers got out with the truck and identified the driver as Kyle Daniel Bennett. Investigators were notified and responded to speak with Bennett before he left the store. The investigation that followed confirmed Bennett as the suspect in this case and a warrant was secured for his arrest.”

Bennett was extradited to Troy and incarcerated in the Pike County Jail on the charge of second-degree theft of property with a bond of $2,500.

Second-degree theft of property is a Class C Felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
