Police are searching for two men suspected of robbing a Troy man on the side of the road Wednesday afternoon.

One of those suspects was armed with a handgun according to Troy Police Chief Randall Barr.

“The victim, a 61-year-old male, was sitting in his vehicle on the side of the road when a small black car, possibly a Honda Accord, occupied by three black males pulled up near his vehicle,” Barr said. “The victim stated that two black males exited the small black car and approached his vehicle and demanded money.”

The incident occurred at approximately 1 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of U.S. Highway 29 and Pike County Road 7708. Barr said the suspects took the man’s wallet and cell phone and then fled the scene in the vehicle they arrived in.

Both suspects were wearing black pants and red pullover hoodies and both appeared to be in their early 20s with no facial hair, according to the victim.

Barr said all three are wanted on a charge each of first-degree robbery since one of the suspects was armed.

“Every one of them can be charged with armed robbery in this case if they can be identified,” Barr said. “If they had knowledge or participated in whatever shape form or fashion, they can be charged.”

First-degree robbery is a Class A Felony punishable by 20 years to life in prison.
