Ann (Nee McMullen) Russell O’Rourke, 89, died peacefully in her sleep at Highlands Health Center at Newcastle Place in Mequon, Wisconsin on April 6, 2018.  Ann grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana, daughter of Mary Pauline (Beshoar) and Frank McMullen.

Survivors include sons Dr. Scott Russell, Mike (Sue Ehlers) Russell, Kent (Jessica) Russell, and stepson Bill (Laura) O’Rourke; grandchildren Eric, Abigail and Benjamin Russell; and step-grandchildren Katie and Will O’Rourke. She is further survived by stepdaughters Sharon (David) Frenz, and Celia (Warren) Waters and their children and grandchild.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Leslie O’Rourke; sister, Jane (C.R.) Spielman; and first husband, Dr. Erwin Russell.  She went to two of the same schools as writer Kurt Vonnegut: James Whitcomb Riley School #43 and Shortridge High School. She graduated from Purdue University with a BA degree, and became a Pi (Beta) Phi for life, though her 24 years in Troy, Ala. also made her an ardent fan of Alabama Football.  In the early 1970’s, she became a licensed real estate broker, working alongside great professionals, several of whom would become lifelong friends.  She volunteered for myriad cultural and charitable causes, including a visiting nurse association, public television, Troy Council on the Arts and Humanities, and various women’s clubs.  In accordance with her wishes, there will be a private memorial at the Davis Cemetery in Burnettsville, Indiana, where her remains will be interred near beloved members of the Beshoar and McMullen families.
