Police have charged two Troy men with breaking and entering a motor vehicle in connection with the burglary of a vehicle in the 200 block of Dozier Drive Saturday.

Kendarious Carter and Jashaun Lawrence, both 19, were charged with the felony counts after officers reportedly observed them on the scene at approximately 2:45 a.m. Saturday.

“Officers were given descriptions of two males that were seen looking into cars and pulling door handles,” said Randall Barr, Troy Police Chief. “Officers arrived on scene and located both males matching the descriptions. Officers made contact with Carter, while Lawrence fled the scene on foot. Witnesses advised officers on the scene that the two suspects had been seen going through several vehicles.”

Officers were able to identify one of the victims who had property taken from his or her vehicle. Officers found Lawrence in the area and arrested him on an outstanding misdemeanor offense and on a charge of attempting to elude law enforcement. Felony warrants were then obtained on both for breaking and entering a motor vehicle, a Class C Felony.

Both suspects were processed at the Troy City Jail and transported to the Pike County Jail on $2,500 bond.

The case is still under investigation by the Troy Police Department.
