Goshen knocks off Zion Chapel

The Goshen Eagles baseball team put the finishing touches on their regular season on Tuesday night when they knocked off Zion Chapel 16-6.

The win for the Eagles gives them a finishing record of 7-15.

The Eagles will begin play in the Class 2A playoffs beginning on Friday afternoon.

The Eagles sent three pitchers to the mound on Tuesday beginning with Blake Saupe. The starter threw three innings. McGwire Stanley pitched innings four through six and senior Brock Snyder closed out the contest by pitching the seventh.

The Eagles finished with 13 hits on the night. Azavion Rogers led the way by picking up three singles. Goshen had two hit nights by Snyder, Corey Peterson, Dalton Bunce and Tate Phillips. Stanley and Blake Childs each picked up a hit.

The Eagles will begin the best of three series with Keith on Thursday with a double-header beginning at 3:30. If a third game is needed, it will be played on Saturday.
