The 2018 rosters for North-South boys and girls All-Star games have been announced and two local players will make the trip to Alabama State’s Dunn-Oliver Acadome.

Charles Henderson’s Maori Davenport and Goshen’s Ty’Quajah (Bree) Griffin will both head to Montgomery on July 18 to play on the south roster. Davenport and Griffin will be on a roster that features 15 players under coaches Rhonda Wright of Clarke County, Anthony Edwards of Loachapoka and Nigel Card of Saint James.

Davenport, fresh off her state championship, has had a busy offseason to this point. After being named state tournament MVP, Davenport was also named first team all-state, Class 5A Player of the Year and was invited last week to participate in the U.S. Team Trials in Colorado.

Davenport averaged a double-double this season with 17 points per game and 12 rebounds. She averaged 5.4 blocks per game.

Griffin also had a successful season for the Lady Eagles. She led the Eagles in scoring and was also named first-team all-state.

This year will mark the 22nd year of the game. Each roster consists of 15 of the top juniors from around the state.

The two games will make up the Alabama High School Athletic Directors and Coach’s Association All-Star Games Competition that will run from July 16-20.

The AHADCA All-Star Games also include football, soccer, baseball, softball, volleyball and cross-country.

The 57th North-South All-Star Football game will close out the weekend on July 19. The Eagles are the only southern team to have three players represented. Quarterback Brock Snyder, wide receiver Zack Alford and defensive lineman Devin Bell will all play in the game at the Crampton Bowl.

Tip-off for the basketball game will be at 6:00 p.m. The boy’s basketball game will follow at 7:30 p.m.
