Eagles send three to AHSAA All-Star Game

The rosters for the 58th annual AHSAA North-South All-Star Football Game have been announced and the Goshen Eagles are in rarified air.

The Goshen Eagles advanced all the way to the Class 2A semifinals for the first time in program history this year. They were able to achieve the feat because of strong senior leadership. Quarterback Brock Snyder, wide receiver Zack Alford and defensive lineman Devin Bell were all selected Wednesday to take part in the All-Star Game.

“It was a total surprise,” said Eagles head coach Bart Snyder. “Offensively and defensively we had several seniors that would have qualified to do this. We submitted them to be on it and I was shocked and I wasn’t expecting it to be honest.”

Goshen is the only team to have three players make up the south squad.

The game will feature two rosters of graduating seniors. Goshen is the only school from Pike County to be represented in the game.

“It just shows what the entire group was able to do with all their hard work, dedication and loyalty they gave to this program,” Snyder said. “Not this year, but over the years. Even though these three guys were the recipients of this opportunity it’s really just a capstone of what this entire team has done.”

The three Eagles players will be coached by Montgomery Catholic head coach Aubrey Blackwell.

The North-South Game will be played Thursday, July 19 at Montgomery’s Crampton Bowl. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m. The game will be live-streamed by the NFHS Network and broadcast by the AHSAA Radio Network.

The South team holds a 30-26-2 advantage over the North. The North won last year’s meeting 14-13.
