PLAS hosting hunt

The Pike Liberal Arts athletics department will host the first annual Pike Liberal Arts Chicken Thunder Rodeo on March 31.

Local hunters will have the opportunity to prove they are the best turkey hunter in the area if they can bag the biggest turkey.

“It’s a turkey hunt where you can sign up in teams of two,” said softball coach Robert Rollan. “It’s to see who the best turkey hunter is in Pike County. If you think you’re the best turkey hunter in Pike County, then go out and hunt with a buddy.”

The entry fee is $100 dollars for a team of two hunters. Hunters will be allowed to hunt with each other or separate.

First prize for the contest will be a pair of shotguns, second prize is $300 and third prize is $200.

No birds will be accepted after 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 31 and no frozen birds will be allowed. Even people under 18 years old can participate, but they will need to hunt with a legal guardian.

“It’s a fundraiser for Pike Liberal Arts athletics,” Rollan said. “It’s also something where you can say ‘I am the best turkey hunter in Pike County because I have a shotgun to prove it.’”

The deadline for registration is Friday.

Interested participants can contact Rollan at Pike Liberal Arts.
