Brundidge Brown Bag to focus on garden mishaps

Have you ever made a gardening mistake? Too much fertilizer or too little? Too much water or not enough?

Gardening mistakes come in different varieties, forms, sorts and types. Some are minor; others are major. Some can be corrected; some can’t.

“So, wouldn’t it be fun to come together and talk about to your friends and neighbors about gardening mistakes,” said Theresa Trawick, Tupper Lightfoot Memorial Library director. “Whether you love gardens, plant gardens or both, you are invited to come to the Tupper Lightfoot Memorial Library at noon on Thursday for our Brown-Bag program.”

Trawick said the plan is for everyone to sit around in round-table fashion and share bits of wisdom on ‘what to do and not to do’ in the garden whether it be the flower garden or the vegetable garden.

Trawick, who is a master gardener, said often more is learned from gardening mistakes than from things that are done just right.

She and several other master gardeners will share what they have learned from Master Gardner classes, gardening reading materials and their own gardening successes and, yes, mistakes.

Trawick said the roundtable discussion should be lively, fun and informative.

The winners of Tupper’s Adult Winter Reading competition will be announced at Thursday’s Brown-Bag event. The winner will receive a $100 cash prize and the runners-up will receive gift baskets. So all of those who are entered in the reading competition are encouraged to be there for the awarding of the prizes.

Jennifer Amlong, children’s director, said an Easter egg hunt is planned for children ages 1-10 at 10 a.m. March 24 on the library grounds. Children should bring their baskets. A responsible adult should accompany each child.

“The Easter Bunny will be here and he is anxious to have his picture taken with the children,” Amlong said. “The children will be able to make an Easter craft to take home so it will be a fun day at the Tupper Lightfoot Memorial Library.”
