If laughter is the best medicine, then a bunch of ladies at First Baptist Church in Troy overdosed Saturday night.

The FBC Women’s Ministry hosted a ladies’ night out event in which they were treated to dinner and an XXXtremely entertaining show. The XXXtremes, Lisa Vest, Jackie Beavers and Deena White, plus sizes, 1X, 2X and 3X, and not necessarily in that order, came on a mission of laughter and their mission was accomplished.

Alyssa Jordan, Women’s Ministry director, said the idea behind the XXXtremes was to simply provide a ladies’ night of fun and laughter.

“God tells us to be together to love, laugh and share our burdens,” Jordan said. And, who better to make that happen than three ladies who know how to laugh at themselves.

The XXXtremes described themselves as “plus size girls in a skinny man’s world” and “skinny women in big bone frames.”

They localized the laugher in song and in banter among them. They went “on and on” about Crowe’s chicken, special sauce and crinkly fries. The plus size girls from North Alabama are addicted to Little Debbie Cakes and a dozen other sweet treats at Dollar General. They admitted being OCD – Old Crazy and Dangerous – and taking bubble baths in Krispy Kreme donuts.

The XXXtremes poked fun at each other, their husbands and marriage and the causes of women and the things women cause.

“We love to laugh. We love to sing. We love the Lord,” they said and to that, the packed audience of ladies, sizes 5 petite to 3X, stood and applauded.

A good time was had by all.
