Home to the nation’s fourth-longest active winning streak, the Troy football team will open spring practice on Tuesday, March 20, head coach Neal Brown announced Monday. Troy will practice 15 times during the spring culminating with the annual T-Day Spring Game on Saturday, April 21, at The Vet.

Troy ended the 2017 season with seven straight victories on its way to a record sixth Sun Belt Conference championship and a New Orleans Bowl title. The Trojans outscored their opponents by a 22-point margin (40.3 – 18.3) during their winning streak and finished the season with the 27th most votes in the final Amway Coaches Poll.

Spring will bring a mark of change for Brown’s Trojans as four-year starting quarterback Brandon Silvers and Troy’s all-time touchdowns king Jordan Chunn have both graduated. However, Troy returns its top two receivers in Deondre Douglas and Damion Willis and four starters on an offensive line that ranked sixth nationally last season in efficiency.

Defensively, the Trojans return five starters from the top-rated unit in the Sun Belt and one of the best in the country. First team All-Sun Belt bandit Hunter Reese returns after recording 14.0 tackles for loss as Troy set a school record and finished fourth nationally with 112 stops behind the line of scrimmage.

Troy’s spring workouts also mark the debut of some new faces on the Trojan coaching staff. Sean Dawkins (RB) and Brian Blackmon (TE/S-Backs) joined the program in January and Brown is expected to finalize his staff with one more hire within the next two weeks.

The Trojans have won 22 of their last 27 games dating back to the 2014 season and USA Today ranked Troy at No. 18 in its final College Football 1-130 – the Trojans were the third-highest ranked Group of Five team (UCF & Boise State).

In what will be one of the most anticipated season openers in Troy history, the Trojans open the 2018 season against Boise State on Sept. 1 in the newly renovated Veterans Memorial Stadium.
