The Colley Senior Complex is preparing to kick off its 2018 Mardi Gras Gala fundraiser on February 10 at Cattleman Park.

“We are going to dance the night away,” Catherine Jordan, complex director, said laughing. “But, first, we have more drawdown tickets to sell.”

The winner or winners of the drawdown will receive $10,000 in cash and this year’s drawdown has the potential to have several and more winners.

“To make the drawdown more exciting, we are giving one drawdown ticket to each corporate table and one ticket to each reserved table,” Jordan said. “Usually, the last ticket to be drawn is the winner of the $10,000. However, last year, the last five ticket holders decided to split the prize money so we had five winners.

“This year, with each table getting a ticket, everybody has a chance to win. The corporate tables seat 10 and the reserved tables seat eight. So we could have even more winners and that will be exciting.”

The drawdown tickets are available at the Colley Senior Complex on Elm Street. Only 300 will be sold.

“Don’t wait to get your ticket because they are going fast,” Jordan said.

With the 2018 Mardi Gras Gala only days away, Jordan said it’s time for everyone to get those masks and costume ready for the big night.

“At 7 p.m. the doors will open and we’ll have hors d’oeuvres and cocktails and at 8 p.m. everyone will lead the band in. The parade will be a lot of fun. Then, we will dance the night away with one of the country’s best bands, Creative from Atlanta.

Jordan said all of the proceeds from the Mardi Gras Gala support the many programs and activities at the Senior Colley Complex.

“We appreciate our corporate sponsors and our reserved table sponsors,” she said. “People like to sit with friends and this way they know who is sitting with them and it just makes for a more enjoyable night.”
