SAN MARCOS, Texas – After falling for the first time in league play on Thursday, the Troy women’s basketball team looks to rebound at Texas State on Saturday in Sun Belt Conference action. Tip is set for 2 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on ESPN3 and WTBF 94.7 FM.

The Trojans (7-7, 2-1 Sun Belt) shot just 28.8 percent from the field and never look settled offensively turning the ball over 22 times. Amanda Mendoza scored 14 points, the seventh time she’s reached double-digits this season. Jasmine Robinson turned in a career-high 12 points while Sky’Lynn Holmes hauled in eight rebounds.

After dropping a tough 65-65 decision at Coastal Carolina, Texas State (9-3, 2-1) looked dominate in a 78-63 win over South Alabama on Thursday. Junior guard Toshua Leavitt scored 20 points for the sixth time this season, tallying 28 in the game. Taeler Deer added 11 points to go along with a career-high nine rebounds and eight assists. Deer has led the Bobcats in assists in 12 of the team’s 14 games this season.

The Trojans and Bobcats have met eight teams with each team winning four games a piece. The Trojans fell to the Bobcats in San Marcos in their meeting last season on February 25.

Troy enters Saturday’s game second in the NCAA averaging 49.9 rebonds per game. The Trojans are also second in the nation with 23.0 offensive boards per game.
