Old Christmas at Clay Hill not hampered by cold

Old Christmas at Clay Hill is a traditional service that is held on January 6 to celebrate the arrival of the Wise Men to present gifts to the Christ Child.

For about 20 years, Brundidge United Methodist Church has hosted a non-denominational service at historic Clay Hill Church at 6 p.m. on January 6.

The service is one of scriptures and songs and offers the community an opportunity to celebrate the season in a quiet and peaceful way. And, in much the same way that our ancestors celebrated Christmas services in the old church houses.

Although, the temperatures will drop to freezing Saturday night, Clay Hill Church will be heated and the service will go on as usual.

Everyone is invited to experience Old Christmas in the way that it was celebrated in olden days, with a bit of chill in the air but with hearts warmed by the spirit of the season.

Old Christmas begins at 6 p.m. at Clay Hill Church which is located on County Road 4408 just off Highway 93 between Banks and Brundidge.
