When high school football season ends, high school players – along with their coaches and family members – wait with anticipation to see their names on the Alabama’s Sportswriters All-State Team. Seven local players made that hope a reality Saturday.

In class 5A, Charles Henderson kicker Cameron Bush was named second-team All-State, while Goshen Kicker Dawson Hamlin took home first team honors. Hamlin had the company of his teammates as well. Quarterback Brock Snyder, wide receiver Zack Alford and offensive lineman Dakari Siler took home second team honors.

Pike County running back Jahzarian Lampley and Goshen defensive lineman Devin Bell were named as honorable mentions.

Bush connected on 28 of his 33 extra points attempts good enough for 85 percent. He was good on six of his nine field goals for 60 percent and he had a season-long kick of 40 yards.

Hamlin connected on 7 of 13 kicks with a season long of 48 yards. As a kicker, Hamlin had 64 touchbacks.

Eagle quarterback Snyder completed 121 of his 222 passes for 2,116 yards. He threw 28 touchdown passes with only five interceptions. The highlight of Snyder’s season came in the playoff win over St. Luke’s when he had seven touchdowns.

Snyder’s teammate Alford had 37 receptions for 749 yards and had 11 receiving touchdowns.

Siler was part of an Eagle offensive line that helped Snyder throw for over 2,00 yards and running back Damion Passmore accumulate over 1,000 yards rushing.

Reed Jinright anchored the Patriots secondary and 2017 and was one of the defensive captains while also playing quarterback. BJ Burke controlled the line scrimmage as a defensive lineman for the Patriots.
