Trojans fall in title game

The Charles Henderson Lady Trojans had their run in the Bob Jones Tournament come to an end on Thursday afternoon with a 41-26 loss to Hazel Green.

The Trojans held a six-point lead heading into the second quarter, but a scoreless second turned the tides on Thursday.

Niaira Jones got off to a good start with six early points in the opening quarter on two three pointers. She finished the game with eight points, tied for the team high with Maori Davenport. All eight of Davenport’s eight points came in the second half, including six in the third. Tatyana Siler finished with six points while Nala Baker and Whittaka Lowery each had two.

The Trojans allowed Hazel Green’s Marissa Snodgrass hit five three pointers, which accounted for all 15 of her points. Brooke Hampel led all scorers with 18 points.

After going into the half trailing 20-12, the Trojans were outscored in the second half 21-14.

The Trojans will be back in action on December 27 when they take part in the Naples Tournament.
