Troy co-offensive coordinator Kenny Edenfield has left the Trojans and will be the new offensive coordinator and quarterback coach at South Alabama.

South Alabama announced the hire on Monday afternoon in Mobile.

Edenfield will join a Jaguar coaching staff headed up by new head coach Steve Campbell.

Edenfield coached at Troy for the last 10 seasons and has been a coordinator since 2010.

“Edenfield has done an incredible job here at Troy,” said head coach Neal Brown. “He was a Troy Trojan through and through. He won a national championship here as a player. It’s no different than what we tell our players: when you have success, people are going to move on and it’s understandable.”

Edenfield helped lead the Trojans to five bowl appearances and helped lead an offensive unit that finished in the top 20 nationally in total offense twice and passing offense four times.

During his time, the Trojans set school records in completions, completion percentage and receptions.

In 2017, the Trojans finished fourth in the conference in scoring offense with 31.5 points per game. They were fifth in passing yards with 269 yards per game.

A replacement for Edenfield has not been named. Quarterbacks coach Sean Reagan could be used to fill Edenfield’s vacancy beginning next season.

“We have to do a good job of searching and developing our staff just like we do our players,” Brown said.
