The council also considered the request for the rezoning of property located on Galloway Road from R-3 multi-family residential to MHR mobile home residential. No one spoke on the request.

Following the public hearing the council held its regular November meeting. The council voted to put liens on the Griffin and Wheeler properties in the amount of the efforts necessary to bring the properties into compliance with the weed control ordinance.

After discussion about the size of the property being requested for re-zoning, the council voted to carry the request over to the next meeting. The council will consider that the re-zoning would affect a larger area than indicated.

City Manager Britt Thomas said the rezoning would be for the entirety of the property and would allow for more than one mobile home to be located there at other points in time.

The council adopted the city’s FY2018 budget in the amount of $10,012,578.

In other business, the council voted to accept the Southeast Alabama Gas District’s franchise agreement that would be in effect for the next 30 years. The council also agreed to concur with the Pike County Commission and roll over the Haynes Ambulance contract for another year under the same terms as the present contract.

The council voted to change the times of its December meetings from 6 p.m. to 4 p.m. on December  5 to allow for participation in the city’s Christmas Parade and to 1:30 p.m. on December 19 so as to follow the city’s Christmas luncheon.

The meetings will be held at Brundidge City Hall.
