Carl “Lynn” Ware Whitfield

Carl “Lynn” Ware Whitfield, 74, of Smiths Station, Alabama, and formally of Troy, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at Phenix City Health Care in Phenix City, Alabama.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon EST/11:00 am CST Friday, November 10, 2017, at the Mausoleum Chapel at Green Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Troy, Alabama with Rev. Luke Lane officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 EST/5:00 to 7:00 pm CST at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City and again on Friday one hour prior to the service at Green Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in the Mausoleum Chapel.

Ms. Whitfield was born September 28, 1943, in Hazard, Kentucky to Mary Ann Herald Ware and the late Carl Milton Ware. She was employed with Alfa Insurance in Montgomery with many loyal years of service. She served as past National President (1996) LAFEMMES 40/8 American Legion. In her youth she enjoyed showing horses, and playing basketball, and in her later years she loved spending quality time with family and friends. She was a Baptist by faith.

She is survived by her mother, Mary Ann Herald Ware of Troy; three children, Carl Vance Ware and wife Kelly of Troy; Yancey Eugene Shaver, III and wife Angie of Prattville, Alabama; and Michael Grady Shaver of Alberta, Alabama; step-children, Virginia, Fair, Valerie and Vanda Whitfield and Louie B. Whitfield, IV; one sister, Jo Ann Beck and husband Ronald of Smiths Station; eight grandchildren, Carl Milton Ware, II (Judi), Jessica Brown (Wes), Maranda Shaver (Andrea), Melissa Shaver, Tabitha Chandler (Robert), Allison Wilkerson (River), Dalton Parr (Cathy), and Cade Shaver; four great grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and many other loving family members.
