The Pike County Bulldogs benefited from a 20-point third quarter in their 26-9 win over the G.W. Long Rebels in the regular season finale on Friday night.

The win gives the Bulldogs an overall record of 8-2 with their only losses coming to rival Goshen and Montgomery Academy.

The game was tight in the early going as both team’s offense’s struggled to get anything on the board. After a scoreless first quarter, Pike County quarterback Jaidyn Wilson connected with Jahzarian Lampley on a 65-yard touchdown pass to put the Bulldogs up 6-0 after a failed extra point attempt.

The Rebels responded late in the quarter when they scored with :29 seconds remaining to send the game into halftime with a 6-6 score.

The Bulldogs took control in the third quarter by scoring 20 unanswered points.

Rayshawn Reynolds started the scoring with a 52-yard touchdown run to put the Bulldogs up 12-6 after a failed two-point conversion attempt.

Three minutes later Zion Scott scored on a 56-yard run to increase the Bulldogs’ lead to put the Bulldogs up 19-6.

Reynolds scored his second touchdown of the night when he took a handoff 60 yards for the score with :34 seconds left to increase the Bulldogs lead to 26-6 heading into the fourth quarter.

The Rebels scored the last points of the night on a 27-yard field goal to bring the score to 29-6.

Wilson finished the night completing 4 of his 9 passes for 119 yards with one touchdown to go along with one interception.

Reynolds led the Bulldogs on the ground with 115 yards on just three carries while scoring two touchdowns. Scott finished with 59 yards, while Lampley had 42.

Lampley and Reynolds each had two catches on the night. Lampley finished with 80 yards, while Reynolds had 39.

The Bulldogs will begin post season play next week when they host the 7-3 Mobile Christian Leopards beginning at 7 p.m.
