Patriots fall in finale

The Pike Liberal Arts Patriots closed out their regular season on Friday night with a 21-7 loss to Lee-Scott in Auburn.

The loss for the Patriots closes out their season record at 7-4.

The Patriots fell behind early and went into the second quarter trailing 14-0 before the Warriors added one more to go up 21-0 heading into the half. The Patriots scored one second-half touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough to catch Lee-Scott.

Patriot quarterback Reed Johnson completed 7 of his 13 passes for 131 yards and one touchdown. Twin brother Wood Jinright hauled in four of the passes for 45 yards. Nate Renfroe, Cody Hollis and Jades Sikes also had a catch.

Reed Jinright led the Patriots in rushing with 58 yards on 11 carries, while TK Thomas had 27 and Reed Johnson had 28.

The Patriots let up the 21 first half points on a one-yard touchdown run, a 35 yard completion and four-yard touchdown run.

After a scoreless third quarter, the Patriots got their lone touchdown when Reed Jinright connected with Hollis on a 61-yard touchdown completion to bring the score to 21-7.

The Patriots will begin play in the AISA Class AAA State Playoffs next Friday night when they hit the road to take on Tuscaloosa Academy beginning at 7 p.m.
