The Goshen Eagles hit the road and traveled to Dothan to take on the Houston Academy Raiders on Friday night. The Eagles (4-1) won the non-regional contest 37-13.

Goshen had trouble converting yards into points in the first half, having several big plays and long drives negated due to penalties. Altogether, the Eagles fell victim to about 280 yards worth of penalties in the game. As a result, the Eagles found themselves down 13-3 at halftime.

“It was a sloppy first half,” Goshen head coach Bart Snyder said after the game. “Our guys weren’t focused and it didn’t go well.”

The second half was a different story, however. Goshen hit on several long plays and was able to minimize mistakes as the Eagles scored 34 unanswered points.

Of those big plays was an 80 yard touchdown run by running back Damion Passmore. Running back Zack Alford was also involved in the second half scoring with his own rushing touchdown. He also caught a touchdown from quarterback Brock Snyder.

Running back JJ Harris scored the final touchdown for Goshen, to bring the game to its final score.

“It was a great team effort in the second half,” Snyder said. “I’m proud of our guys for focusing and finishing strong.”

Goshen will stay on the road next week with a regional game against the Zion Chapel Rebels. That game will kick off at 7:00pm on Friday.
