The City of Troy Tourism Department is hosing Brown Bag on the Square at noon on Wednesday. The community is invited to enjoy great entertainment and the fellowship of friends and neighbors at this “Exploring Downtown Troy” event.

Willie B. Williams, public relations assistant, said Brown Bag will get off to a fast start at noon with deejay C&R Jamz and will not slow down a beat.

“We’ll have great entertainment, food and door prizes and we guarantee a good time for people of all ages,” Williams said. “The restaurants will be open for those who want to grab something downtown or bring along a box lunch.”

The September Brown Bag will be an Alabama Bicentennial 200 event and the Reunion Troy committee will have information about up coming events, said Leigh Ann Windham, Reunion committee.

“We are excited about events that the city has planned that include a Downtown Troy Heritage Walk where we can trace our ancestors’ steps back in time through this historic downtown walk that features historical points of interest throughout downtown Troy,” Windham said. “On September 8, the Exploring Downtown Troy event will feature a downtown concert featuring the Park Band from 7 until 10 p.m.”

The concert will be sponsored by the City of Troy and the Sorrell College of Business GEEK Fest 2017.

On September 9 the Johnson Center for the Arts will sponsor a Chalk Walk from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Children of all ages will be invited to create their own work of chalk art on the downtown sidewalks.

“Also on September 9, everyone is invited to eat, shop and socialize with downtown vendors and Trojan fans before the Troy University vs. Alabama State game which kicks off at 5 p.m.” Windham said.

The Reunion Troy committee is encouraging all citizens to plan reunions of their own during the three-year Bicentennial celebration.

“These can be family reunions, class reunions, employee reunions, club reunions, just any way to bring people together to celebrate all that we are as Alabamians,” Windham said. “Reunion Troy information packets will be available at Brown Bag on Wednesday and we encourage all Troy citizens to get involved as we celebrate Alabama’s Bicentennial.”
