The Pike County Cattlemen are holding with tradition for the association’s 25th Professional Cowboy Association (PCA) Rodeo this weekend at Cattlemen Park.

B.B. Palmer, Cattlemen president, said when things are working just right, there’s no reason to change and every reason to stay the course.

“Brett Woody has been our stock contractor for three years and he has brought in outstanding stock every year,” Palmer said. “He changed over to the National Cowboy Pro Rodeo Association and we’re staying with him. We want the best stock available and Brett makes sure we get it.”

Palmer said good stock is extremely important for the cowboys and cowgirls and the rodeo fans.

“For the cowboys and cowgirls to perform to the best of their abilities, you’ve got to have good stock,” he said. “The better the stock, the better opportunities they have for good scores. Brett’s bucking stock is outstanding. We’re glad to have him back and looking for good riding at the PCA Rodeo Friday and Saturday nights.”

Rodeo announcer Clint Allemand will be back for the third year and “back by popular demand,” Palmer said.

“Clint announces on horseback, so he’s out there where people can see him. He interacts with the crowd and he knows all the cowboys. He keeps the rodeo fan interested and informed.”

Palmer said Allemand’s daughter is in the lead for the All-Around Cowgirl title and, in so doing, is making quite a name for herself on the rodeo circuit.

Matt the Clown will return for a third time and he, too, is back by popular demand.

“Matt will bring an all new act. He keeps the fans entertained with all kinds of antics,” Palmer said. “The Pike County Cattlemen bring in the best stock, the best announcer and the best clown so there’s never a dull moment at Cattlemen Park.”

Rodeo is family entertainment at its best. Palmer said rodeo fans and those who come for the first time will be well entertained.

“So make the Pike County Cattlemen’s PCA Rodeo a part of your weekend plans,” Palmer said. “You won’t be disappointed.

Rodeo tickets are only $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Children ages 12 and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult.
