The Troy Police Department is handing over the lead position on the missing person case of Lisa Theris to Bullock County.

“As our investigation draws near the end of its third week everything points to Lisa’s last known location being in Bullock County,” said Police Chief Randall Barr.

Theris, 25, was originally reported missing to the Troy Police Department by her father and two friends on July 23, with their last contact with Theris reportedly being July 18.

Barr said the father’s last conversation with Theris pointed to her being in Troy, but it could not be confirmed or denied.

It has come out in the investigation that Theris was last in contact with two Troy men who have been arrested on felony theft and burglary charges in connection with a hunting camp burglary in Midway in the early morning hours of July 19.

Manley Green Davis, 31, and Randall Wade Oswald, 36, were arrested in the last two weeks on the charges and questioned about the case.

“The apprehension of Manley Green Davis and Randall Wade Oswald are significant to this case as the investigation has revealed that both knew Lisa Theris and both were with her or had knowledge of her whereabouts on or about the time that she was reported missing by her father,” Barr said in a statement.

Bullock County investigators have said that they believe Theris was with the two men in Midway when they went to the hunting camp.

“We’re 99.9 percent sure she was there,” said Deputy Josh Powell. “I say that because there’s always that 0.1 percent chance that she wasn’t.”

The two men are charged with stealing over $40,000 worth of property

Both Davis and Oswald were caught in Troy shortly after Bullock County got warrants for their arrest.

A deputy with the Pike County Sheriff’s Office spotted Davis in a vehicle on Alabama Highway 87 Monday July 31 and attempted to contact him, but Davis fled.

A resident in the Country Club neighborhood noticed Davis walking through his back yard and notified police, who responded and found Davis lying down in the backseat of a vehicle that was attempting to back out of a nearby driveway.

Oswald was caught a week later on Monday, August 7 when a Troy police officer spotted him driving a vehicle and attempted to contact him. Oswald fled and led authorities on a chase that spanned three counties before running out of gas and fleeing into the woods in Crenshaw County, where he was caught.

Both are currently being held on $250,000 bond at the Bullock County Jail.

Barr said the Troy Police Department will continue to assist on the case.

“The Troy Police Department will continue to investigate and assist the Bullock County Sheriff’s Department with this investigation in any way we can,” Barr said. “We will continue to work with the Theris family and remain committed to finding Lisa Joy Theris.”

Theris is 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 145 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. She may be in danger because she has a medical condition that requires daily medication and she needs her prescription medication.

Several law enforcement agencies have been searching the area around the hunting camp.
