Several Greek letter sororities and fraternities, that are part of the National Pan Hellenic Council participated in “Greek Week” at the Boys and Girls Club of Pike and Surrounding Counties. 

Sabrina Thomas, second vice president, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Chi Upsilon Zeta Chapter, said organizations provided lunch and snacks for the attendants and also interacted with them through various activities.  Members of the Troy Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. (Enterprise and Dothan Chapters) were happy to serve. Jason Thomas talked about the importance of proper dress for an interview and taught the boys how to correctly tie a necktie. Rachel Everett discussed the importance of self-esteem and attendees completed an activity called “Why I Love Me.”

Deborah Benton discussed the importance of team work. Students had to pass the hula hoop to each other without letting go of their hands. Jackie Patterson discussed the importance of getting 60 minutes — 15 minutes here and there — of exercise throughout each day. Alice Smith talked about healthy food groups and completed a worksheet with them.

Henry Everett taught boys and girls a song called, “Hang On”.  He encouraged them by saying, “No matter the situation, know that there is hope.  Always seek help from a teacher, an adult and especially God. There is power in prayer.”
