A Troy man was arrested Monday on felony theft and burglary charges and also was questioned regarding a pending missing person case.

Manley Green Davis, 31, was arrested in the Country Club neighborhood after attempting to flee from law enforcement. He was arrested, questioned and transported to Bullock County. The chase began around 2 p.m., when a deputy familiar with Davis’ Bullock County warrants spotted him driving a white Cadillac on Alabama Highway 87 near Pike County Lake Road, according to Troy Police Chief Randall Barr.

“When the deputy turned around to make contact, Davis fled the scene traveling toward Troy,” Barr said. “Officers quickly saturated the area in an effort to locate Davis when an alert citizen notified police that Davis had been seen on foot in the area of Wilson Drive. Officers found Davis hiding in the backseat of a car in the 600 block of Wilson Drive and took him into custody around 2:45 p.m.”

The vehicle Davis had been driving was found nearby at the end of Rick Street and was impounded.

Davis had previously been charged with first-degree theft of property and third-degree burglary in Bullock County.

Davis has not been charged with any crimes related to the disappearance of Lisa Theris, who was reported missing in Troy on July 23. Investigators questioned Davis about the case before transporting him to Bullock County on the theft and burglary charges.

“It had been reported and the investigation had revealed that Davis and Theris knew one another and that they had been together on or around the time that Theris was reported missing by her father,” Barr said.

The Troy Police Department is partnering with law enforcement of Pike, Bullock and Coffee counties on the disappearance.

Barr did not comment further on the case as it is still an active investigation.
