Troy BOE approves personnel action as schoolyear approaches

The Troy City Board of Education met Monday afternoon to consider professional and support recommendations for the 2017-2018 school year that brought the hires to within two of the positions available.

At Troy Elementary School, the board:

• Accepted the resignation of Shannon Williamson, sixth grade teacher at Troy Elementary School effective May 26.

• Approved the hiring of Amanda Stewart, sixth-grade teacher.

• Approved the hiring of Whitney Bullard, first-grade teacher.

Both hires will be effective Aug. 1, 2017.

In other personnel action, for TES the board hired:

• Shirley Holloway, TES special education aide.

• Abbie Lewis, TES library aide.

• Frederica Talbot, TES Child Nutrition Program.

• Michele Fry, TES custodian.

• Sedrick Parks, TES custodian.

• Orlando Buck, TES, in-school support aide.

All hires will be effective August 1, 2017.

The board also accepted the resignation of Maci English, TES library aide, effective May 26,2017.

In personnel professional action for Charles Henderson High School, the board:

• Approved the hiring of Jennifer Ramirez, CHHS counselor, effective August 1.

• Approved the transfer of Tyler Eady, CHHS, history teacher to CHHS physical education strength and condition teacher (masters), effective August 1.

• Hired Zach Douglas, CHHS history teacher, effective August 1.

•Accepted the resignation of Michelle Armstrong, CHHS math teacher, effective July 19.

In support action, the board:

• Approved the hire of Lilly Baker, CHHS Child Nutrition Program, effective August 1.

• Approved the hire of Barbara Finn, CHHS Child Nutrition Program, effective August 1.

In Central Office support staff, recommendations, the board:

• Accepted the resignation of Zachary Lee, grounds, effective July 19, 2017.

• Accepted the resignation of Garrett Mitchell, maintenance, effective July 17, 2017

• Hired Michael Garrett, maintenance, effective August 1, 2017.

The board also heard a presentation on the Troy City Board of Education’s audit report. The unmodified opinion was a stamp of approval on the board’s financial reporting.
