8u Coach pitch

Troy 15 Russellville 5

After a four hour rain delay, Troy picked up a win against Russellville in the second round of the state tournament in Enterprise on Saturday evening.

“I thought we looked good,” said manager Dax Pugh. “We looked real relaxed. We played a good team, I know id didn’t indicate it, but that’s probably the best team we have played and I expect them to win several games.”

Kellen Stewart, Tucker Vaughn and Braden Shirley all hit the ball well on Saturday according to Pugh.

Troy has worked hard defensively all summer and it paid off on Saturday.

“We made a lot of good defensive plays,” Pugh said. “I thought that was what was going to separate us from other teams.”

Troy will be back in action at 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
