The season came to an end for the Goshen Eagles when they were swept by J.U Blacksher 17-2 and 16-0 in the opening round of the Class 2A state playoffs on Friday.

“They were as good as we thought they were,” said Goshen head coach Robby Kinsaul. “We gave them things like errors and walks. We weren’t very good on the mound. It’s no excuse, but we never pitched on a mound like that … We just couldn’t find the zone in both games.”

The Eagles allowed 33 runs in the two games. In game one senior ace Landon Wilks started. He was relieved by Bryan Galloway and Evan Rose.

In game two Jackson Kyzar started and was followed by Dalton Bunce and Wilks.

“In the first game we put the ball in play and we didn’t strikeout that much,” Kinsaul said. “I felt like we had some momentum in the first inning of game two. We had the bases loaded with no outs and once again we couldn’t push the run across. It just wasn’t meant to be.”

The Eagles finished the regular season 14-9 and 2-2 in the area. Regardless of Friday’s outcome, Kinsaul was happy with the regular season performance..

“That doesn’t take anything away from our regular season,” Kinsaul said. “We have a lot to look forward to next year. We will have a big senior class. I am very appreciative of the seven seniors we had this year.”
