The Goshen Eagles defeated county rival Pike County 13-4 in game one of a double-header on Monday.

The Eagles scored in all five innings of the shortened game.

Dalton Bunce got the start for the Eagles. He lasted four innings and allowed just one run.

Alex Allen took the ball as the Bulldogs starter and threw 3 1/3 innings.

The Eagles finished with 10 hits, led by Blake Childs who had three. Cory Peterson, Addison Hand and Brock Snyder each had two.

The Bulldogs finished with four hits by Correy Rotton, Alex Henderson, Jose Cardenas and Rasuwl Jackson.

The Eagles jumped on the board in the bottom of the first inning when Peterson hit a ringing double to left center field to score Brian Redmon.

Childs and Addison Hand led off the second with singles and both of them came around to score on a triple by Redmon to make it 3-0. Redmon came around to score on a groundout by Jackson Kyzar to give the Bulldogs a 4-0 lead heading into the third.

The Eagles added three more runs in the third courtesy of three bases-loaded walks. Kyzar walked in Childs, Peterson walked in Hand and Hunter Williams walked in Evan Rose to give the Eagles a 8-0 lead.

The Bulldogs got a pair of base runners via the walk in the fourth inning and Alex Henderson drove in Pike County’s first run on a blooper single just beyond the first base bag to score Rotton.

Childs had an RBI single; Rose drove in a run on a groundout; and Peterson hit a two-run triple to give the Eagles a commanding 12-1 lead after four.

Cage Freeman came into the pitch in the fifth and the Bulldogs, like the Eagles in the third, scored three runs via the walk. Hunter Kilpatrick walked in Qua Walker, Josh Williams walked in  Jackson and Rotton walked in the final run of the inning to bring the score to 12-4.

The Eagles scored the final two runs of the game on bases loaded walks by Redmon and Childs.

The Eagles carried over their performance into game two where they once again defeted the Bulldogs by ten runs at 11-1 to close out the regular season.

The Eagles will begin play in the State Playoffs on Friday against J.U. Blacksher at 4 and 6 p.m. If neccessary game three will be Saturday at 2 p.m.
