The Brundidge Business Association is busy gearing up for two big spring events, the Miss and Little Miss Brundidge Pageant on April 29 and Spring Fest on May 13.

“These are two of our biggest events and we are accepting applications for both,” said Jennifer Garrett, BBA president.

The BBA met Tuesday afternoon with the annual Miss and Little Miss Brundidge and Spring Fest as the major topics of discussion.

“The deadline for entry in the pageant is April 17 so we want to encourage those who have not already sent in their entry forms to do so,” Garrett said. “The pageant is a preliminary to the annual National Peanut Festival held in Dothan in the fall so this is a great opportunity for our winners in both the Miss Brundidge and Little Miss Brundidge divisions. All of the winners will represent Brundidge throughout the year at different events so it will be a fun and exciting year for all the winners.”

All divisions of the 2017 Brundidge pageant are open, meaning those who live outside the Brundidge area are eligible to compete in any division.

“However, the winners of the 2017 Little Miss and Miss Brundidge divisions must be current residents of Brundidge or enrolled in a school in Brundidge to participate in the National Peanut Festival,” Garrett said.

The divisions of the 2017 Little Miss and Miss Brundidge pageants are Tiny Miss, ages two to four; Future Little Miss, ages five and six; Little Miss, first grade; Petite Miss, ages seven thought nine; Young Miss, ages 10-12; Pre-Teen Miss, ages 13 and 14; Teen Miss, ages 15 and 16; and Miss, ages 17-21.

The entry fee for all divisions is $60.

Pageant applications are available Troy Bank & Trust and First National Bank in Brundidge. A limited number of applications is available at local schools.

The BBA also discussed Spring Fest in May and is accepting applications for booths for arts and crafts, $30; commercial items, $50; and festival foods, $50. For booth reservations, contact Dixie Shehane at Troy Bank & Trust in Brundidge or Tonya Williamson at Southern Classic Foods.

The BBA also has tickets available for its Cow Chip Contest that will be an event of Spring Fest.

Shehane said tickets are $10 per square and 500 squares are available for purchase. The  “owner” of the square of deposit choice for the cow will take home a $500 cash prize. Squares are available at Steed Tire Service, Brundidge Piggly Wiggly, Troy Bank & Trust Brundidge or from any member of the BBA.

Nominations are being accepted for the Grand Marshal of the 2017 Independence Day Parade the last Saturday in June. Any BBA member will accept the nominations.
