CHHS downs Brantley

Charles Henderson broke a 2-2 tie in the seventh inning with four runs to defeat Brantley 6-2 on Tuesday.

The Trojans were beneficiaries of five Bulldog errors, but still finished with eight hits. Jackson Murphy finished 2-4 with one RBI, while Jabronski Williams, Bryson Gandy, Carson Tucker, Garrett Tucker, Graham Wilkes and Grant Hughes all recorded hits.

Charlie Tisdale got the start for the Trojans. He pitched four and two third innings and allowed two runs, one of which was earned, on five hits and had six strikeouts.

Garrett Tucker pitched an inning and a third and allowed one hit and had one strikeout.

The Trojans jumped on the board in the first inning when Hunter Reeves came home on a groundout by Carson Tucker.

The Bulldogs evened the score in the bottom of the first, and the Trojans retook the lead in the third on a groundout by Gandy to score Williams.

The Bulldogs tied the game in the bottom of the fourth. Both teams went scoreless over the next two innings, setting the stage for the seventh.

Wilkes began the inning with a single. Chance Pollard came in to run for Wilkes and stole second before Garrett Tucker smacked the single to give the Trojans the 3-2 lead.

Murphy followed with a single to score both Garrett Tucker and Williams. Murphy came around to score on the play on a throwing error.

The Trojans will be back in action on Friday when they host Jemison in a double-header beginning at 3 p.m.
