‘Show off’ in Brundidge on Saturday morning

The Tupper Lightfoot Memorial Library in Brundidge is the host site Saturday for a Show Off Car & Truck Show, a giant Easter egg hunt and games and contests for kids, parents and grandparents.

The activities will get underway at 9 a.m. and conclude at noon, with the exception of the Show Off Show, which will end at 2 p.m.

Theresa Trawick, library director, said the events are being held in celebration of National Library Week and in partnership with the Robert E. Barr Nutrition Center.

“The senior adults at the nutrition center wanted to host an Easter egg hunt for the young children so the idea of combing the egg hunt with the car and truck show seemed like a good partnership,” Trawick said. “We looking forward to a fun day at the Tupper Lightfoot Memorial Library.”

The Show Off Car and Truck Show will be in the parking lot of First National Bank. The show is open to those who would like to show off their vehicles.

“This is not a competition,” Trawick said. “It’s just a way to show off a vehicle. It might be a new vehicle, a vintage vehicle or just a vehicle that is special or unique in some way.”

Trawick said last year’s Show Off Show was a great success.

“Children especially enjoyed sitting in the old pickup trucks and pretending they were driving,” she said. “Everyone enjoyed looking at the vehicles.”

Pre-registration of vehicles is not necessary.

The participants at the Brundidge nutrition center have stuffed eggs by the basketsful and each egg has candy and a prize.

The eggs will be hidden on the library grounds and young children will enjoy the fun of the hunt. The children should bring their baskets.

The Pike County High School Jazz Band will perform from 10 until 11 a.m. at the Knox Ryals Pavilion on the grounds of the historic Bass House.

“The nutrition center seniors will also have games for children, their parents and grandparents,” Trawick said. “This will be a time of family entertainment and fun. We hope parents and grandparents will take advantage of this opportunity to spend time playing with their children and grandchildren.

“Barbecue sandwiches will be available at the library so bring blankets or chairs and spend the morning together as families and friends.”

The Tupper Lightfoot Memorial Library is located on South Main Street in downtown Brundidge.
