Charles Henderson scored a run in the top of the seventh to secure a 2-1 win over area foe Providence on Tuesday evening.

With the win, the Trojans have now won four out of their last five games and seven of their last eight to improve to 10-8 on the year.

Graham Wilkes got the start for the Trojans on Tuesday afternoon. Wilkes threw all seven innings and allowed one run on seven hits and one walk. He also struck out one batter.

“We are getting really good starts from our pitching staff,” said Trojans head coach Josey Shannon. “We seem to be competing at a higher level.”

The Trojans tallied eight hits on the night.

Hunter Reeves led the way going three for four at the plate, while Jabronski Williams had a multi-hit night, going 2-4.

The Trojans fell behind in the bottom of the first inning when Providence scored one run on two hits to take a 1-0 lead.

The Trojans offense was stifled until the top of the fifth inning, when they finally got on the board. Wilkes took a walk and was pinch-ran for by Cobie Jones. Jones came around to score on an error by Eli Yance.

The Trojans looked to take the lead in the seventh inning when Reeves smacked a one-out double. Jackson Murphy singled to score Reeves and give the Trojans the one-run lead.

Wilkes let the potential tying and winning runs on base in the bottom of the seventh, but was able to induce a ground ball to end the game.

The Trojans will be back in action on Thursday when they host area foe Brew Tech beginning at 5 p.m.
