People with all kinds of tastes in music can come to the Square in Troy Saturday night for a free performance by the cover band Union Road.

The band formed in Eclectic in 2011, literally on “Union Road,” but has since begun traveling around the state playing crowd favorites. Their genres include country, rock, funk, pop, oldies and almost any other genre out there. Band manager Tyler Flaney said some friends were all musicians and were asked to play at a friend’s wedding and the band “took off from there.”

Flaney said the band loves playing in Troy.

“I used to live in Troy, we have a lot of friends in Troy and play there a good bit through fraternities and sororities,” Flaney said. “We love Troy, it’s always a great time.” The Downtown Committee of the Pike County Chamber in partnership with the City of Troy hosts the free concert. Leigh Anne Windham with the City and the Chamber said those planning to attend might want to bring a few extra chairs and some jackets and blankets. The concert is 7 to 11 p.m.

The concert will be held from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., but Windham said people are encouraged to come downtown and enjoy dinner downtown and visit the local shops before the concert kicks off.
